First off, we have Lego news. Lego is reportedly developing a massive multiplayer online world where players can build virtual lego creations that other players can see and interact with. For the kids of course.
Second, this is for Margaret because of her kite flying woes. (Read her blog.)

Key words I saw were: father/son...grandfather/grandson!!! I try to do EVERYTHING with my children. But I have ruled out legos, kite flying and monopoly. Which means, I still do these things. I just put on a smile and inside i am hating every minute!!!!!
Have you been to the circus lately? That's at the top of my list.
I DON'T LIKE THE CIRCUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did we witness something tragic at the circus when we were kids that has left us both unhinged about going to this day? It must have been the trapeze artist. You can hate your clowns, but there is just something about the trapeze that bothers me.
...of course it could just be the way tighter than necesary unitard.
Are you kidding??? I worked at Shrine school as in Shrine Circus. We had to go!!!! We had to take our entire handicap, nonverbal class, with stomach tubes and all and they got free popcorn and coke (not us) (they couldn't have it of course because they had tubes!!!) They also had seizures! So the lights and cannons were real treats!!! It was miserable!!! I went once with my sons and thank God! They hated it!!!!
Nope, it wasn't a childhood trauma thing with me. It's the boatload of cheap plastic crap that they charge $15 for and are literally shoving into your kid's hands before you can tell them to get lost. I've got more reasons, but I think I'll save it for a blog.
And Margaret, my last circus experience was the Shrine Circus this past weekend. They ought to just drop the "Circus" and just call it the, "HowMuchIsLeftInYourWallet,We'llTakeIt". Sure, it's a fund raising event, but what's the difference between that and a mugging (besides better marketing)?
So...I guess females aren't supposed to use the auto-kite? "father/son...grandfather/grandson", that means you're out of luck anyway, Margaret.
Does ANYONE like the circus?? (I can't stand them either! Especially clowns...I HATE clowns...and I don't throw around the 'H' word.) The animals are so sad...and the whole place stinks--both literally and figuratively!
So the Lego online thing confuses me. Isn't the whole point of Legos the tactile, kinesthetic learning of putting the blocks together to build something? Isn't that taken away in the virtual world? This modern trend of implying that something is made even better by making it a virtual experience is irritating to me. I'm with my neices and nephew this week and it's a little crazy to me that my neice "colors" on the computer. Not that I think technology is bad...just give me colored pencils and paper over a computer program any day. (oh wait...does that rant make me sound old?? Not just old, but like...grandma old??)

I agree with you Schmo, and yet...In our grandma rants...we are "writing" with this technology instead of using the phone or writing notes!...No, I know there is a difference. But, I still can make Jack roll his eyes at me. And then after I smack them back in his head for being disrespectful. I tell him. "No, you can't play video games or computer. You must go use your brain and imagination." He really only uses the computer or Xbox about 1 hour total a week. He is so behind his peers technology wise!
However, ROCK AND ROLL IS ALLOWED in the house. So you know I parent by my opinions not by their best interests!
